Hii there! I see you booked your tickets for Europe. Excited right? You will need a guide to help you make most of your trip. So here is our packing list to help you.

Passport and other travel documents:

Important things first. Passport, visa, airline tickets, entry tickets, etc. are some of the documents which are very important for your trip.

Other things such as local maps, contact details of your hotels, and travel cards are also very important. You can always have an option to block travel card in case of theft but that’s not the case with cash. So make sure you have all of these before your trip.

Luggage:

Luggage - packing list

Most important thing other than a passport is the luggage for your trip. The type of luggage you choose for your trip matters a lot. There are basically two types of luggage that you can choose.

  • Suitcase with wheels
  • A travel backpack

Both of them have their own pros and cons.

A Suitcase will hold your things in a much more organized way. It will also not put any strain on your back. But it is not easy to wheel a suitcase on cobblestones and staircases. There are two types of suitcases, viz. soft shell and hard shell. Softshell suitcases are a bit flexible, fit in anywhere, and don’t get damaged easily. Hardshell ones are good for storing fragile things. They crack if thrown around. Thus, A soft-shell suitcase is the one you should pick.

Travel Backpack is easier to carry and take less space. It just fits on your back and you can keep your hands free. Also, you don’t need to worry about where you kept your bag. If you are okay with carrying a backpack then you can select one. It’s not easy to pack a lot of things in a backpack.

So, see what your requirements are and select a luggage accordingly.

A small backpack is also required to keep your documents, water, electronics, etc. through the day when you go out. Women can pick a cross body bag. They also look stylish when you go out at night.

Packing Cubes:

They are great for keeping clothes and other things separate and organized. You can put all your shirts in a cube then place pants in another one and have a small cube for undergarments. Cubes help in finding things easily in your luggage. You can select as per your needs.

Clothing:

Clothing - packing list

It happens many times that people are so excited about the trip that they end up packing a lot of clothes and many of them aren’t used even once during the whole trip. We definitely don’t want that. So the key here is to pack a few clothes that you can mix match and wear at more than one occasion.

Women can pack up a couple of t-shirts, blouses, and shirts. Pick 2-3 jeans and skirts. All in all, you can pick 7 Tops and 3 Bottoms. And match them according to the places you are visiting. You will have a total of 21 combinations to choose from and you can also wear them on different occasions.

Men can pack a couple of t-shirts and formal shirts. A couple of long-sleeved shirts is also recommended. You can use them on many occasions. Shirts and t-shirts must be packed with a pair of dark jeans. You can use them through the day while roaming through the streets, at night, you can use them of a casual look at a bar. Dark jeans also hide stains and can go days without a wash. Men can also try the 7 top – 3 bottom strategy.

Formals are also recommended. You never know if you might get lucky with someone or there may be a dress code for the bar you plan to visit. Generally, one formal outfit is enough.

Sweaters are required as Europe’s weather changes very fast. Having a lightweight sweater helps. Go for the one with a hood. A raincoat is also required if you are visiting places where it’s likely to rain.

Shoes are also an important part of the trip. You might want to take a pair of sneakers with you as they are fashionable and also comfortable. A pair of formal shoes may be required when you go out during the night. Whatever you bring, make sure you are comfortable in them and they are not new. New shoes take time to break in and may give you blisters during the trip. This will badly affect your trip. So bring in those shoes in which you are most comfortable and can sustain long walks. A pair of slippers is also recommended for bathrooms.

Lounge-wear: It is important that you feel comfortable not only on the outside but also on the inside. Good quality undergarments are recommended as you will spend most of your days outside and you will sweat a lot. So, good quality undergarments which absorb sweat easily are a must. You should pack 5-6 pairs as you won’t be getting time to wash them every day. They should also dry easily such that you can wash them at night and they dry up by the morning.

Same is the case with socks, make sure they are breathable and also dry quickly. Such socks keep your feet comfortable when going around.

A pair of comfortable night dress is also suggested. As it will help you relax after a long day outdoors.

Accessories:

Accessories pep up your outfit and make you stylish even if you have used the same outfit earlier. Here are some accessories you should pack with you.

Sunglasses are a must. They always look good everywhere. Especially when you are out during the day sightseeing and visiting various trip.

Watches are also important. You can check the time on your smartphone but watches are still in fashion.

Jewelry. A woman’s wardrobe is never complete without jewelry. Even when she is traveling. You can use jewelry when you go out at night to a party.

A tie is a must for men if you have an evening planned. They can be used with formals.

A hat makes you look nice while you are outdoors. You can use it with any outfit other than formals.

Electronics:

In this age, one cannot avoid electronics, even on a vacation.

Power Banks are very much required as you will be continuously outdoors visiting museums, churches, art galleries or shopping and power banks help you when your phone dies.

Camera: You definitely want to cherish the memories of your trip right? Clicking pictures or making videos is a perfect way to capture the moments you will be spending on the trip.

Outlet Plugs: European power points may be different from those in your country. So it’s always a good idea to keep a couple of outlet plugs.

Needless to say, everyone has a smartphone now. It helps you stay connected with friends. How are they going to get jealous if you don’t share pictures of your trip using your smartphone?

Other important things:

Passport cover: A passport cover will keep some your passport and other important documents safe and away from rains. You can also use it to keep your travel card and/or cash.

Toiletries and a toiletry bag: It’s a good thing to bring your own toiletries for the trip. A hanging bag to keep toiletry is very helpful in hotels where you don’t have much space near your sink in the bathroom.

Padlocks: A padlock keeps your valuable stuff safe. It’s a must for your packing list.

Medicines: If you are on any medications suggested by your doctor, make sure you don’t forget them. A couple of bandages might be handy if you get any cuts or bruises.
